Moiya McTier (2015) and José Flores Velazquez (2016) have been named fellows of the National Science Foundation's (NSF) Graduate Research Fellowship Program for 2018.
Their awards represent a milestone for the students of Banneker Institute. More importantly, their promotion within the federal grant system is an opportunity to demand fundamental change to funding education in the United States.
Our program enthusiastically congratulates Moiya's and José's personal achievements, and we champion their courage to challenge the concentration of resources and the structural obstacles to the right to education for all.
